September 2008 Bridge-Logos Newsletter

Dear Friend,

Greetings and blessings to you from Bridge-Logos Publishers in Alachua, Florida!

It seems that every time we mention our location people ask, “Where’s that?” Well, let me give you some idea of where we’re located. We’re in north-central Florida, not far from Gainesville, the home of the University of Florida. So, we’re in Gator country and now that fall is near, the football season is in full swing. Fortunately, I haven’t seen too many alligators lately, though this is a natural habitat for them and a variety of venomous snakes.

The terrain and vegetation in this part of Florida is a bit different from what one usually expects to see in Florida. Though there are palm trees and other semi-tropical plants, we also have many deciduous trees, such as huge oak trees that are beautifully draped with Spanish moss, which, in fact, is neither Spanish nor is it a form of moss. It is actually a rootless epiphytic plant of the pineapple family! Its long, graceful strands add a great deal of beauty to our area—an agrarian land of rolling hills, abundant livestock, and “Cracker houses.” By the way, it is said that the native people of our region gave Spanish moss its name; they named it after the Spaniard’s beards!

It’s very beautiful here and, as I look out of my office window, I am reminded of this verse: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork” (Psalm 19:1, KJV). If you’re ever in our area, come by and see us.

Don’t Worry—Be Happy!

In a very real sense worry is a sin. Why would I make such a bold statement? It’s because when we are worrying, we are not trusting God. We must remember that all our security comes from Him, not from any worldly source.

Jesus said, “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” (Matthew 6:26). Someone once said, “Worrying is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do, but it doesn’t take you anywhere.”

Place all your trust and faith in God, your heavenly Father, and He promises to reward you with peace, joy, and everything you need.

We are so grateful for your continuing interest in our products, and we’re glad to know they’re helping to meet your needs and the needs of your customers.

God bless you and keep you.

Abundant blessings,

Lloyd B. Hildebrand
